Scott Aiken Mason is an award-winning author, executive coach, management consultant, teacher, speaker, husband, Christian, and father. Through his counsel and his writings, he has distinguished himself as a keen observer and thought leader. A graduate of Duke University, where he was a walk-on member of the basketball team for a season, he went on to obtain a master’s degree (Penn State) and doctoral degree (George Washington University) in healthcare policy and management, while working full-time. 

Growing up in the Washington area exposed Dr. Mason at an early age to the intricacies of government relations, an area in which he participated directly at the beginning of his career. Healthcare in America is a complicated government-private partnership with many intricacies. As a career management consultant specializing in healthcare strategy, he has collaborated with over 400 large and small healthcare systems, where his clients were navigating the transformational changes demanded by a beleaguered healthcare industry. 

The defining events of the Baby Boomer generation have had a profound impact on him. Over his 40+ year consulting career, he has been involved in a wide array of collaborative strategies. Through extensive travel to facilitate these changes, he has had the privilege of guiding talented management teams and diverse volunteer boards in various communities across the country. His client organizations are typically extraordinarily complex and constantly challenged to enhance their offerings to meet the evolving needs of their communities. 

He completed these engagements, leading teams at various firms, including Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Cushman & Wakefield, Samaritan Health Service (now Banner Health), The American Hospital Association, and several firms that he founded as a serial entrepreneur. These experiences offered a unique vantage point from which to witness change. Rising above chance to foster intentional change has been his stock and trade. 

Through his unique writing approach and entertaining style, Dr. Mason straddles practical experience with academic rigor. He brings common sense to today's chaos and offers a consultant’s talent for simplifying complex issues.
